ownCloud has many great apps, and one of our favorite apps is the mail app. During the ownCloud contributor conference there was a lot of work going on, and the mail developers team released version 0.2. Now we are aiming at version 0.3, but there is still much work to do.
Nightly builds
To make it as easy as possible to join the development, and contribute – we decided to make nightly builds instead of the previous way were you had to clone the master manually and install all the dependencies to make it work. The nightly builds are updated every 12 hours – 00:00 (12:00 AM) and 12:00 (12:00 PM) UTC+0200, via a cronjob and works out of the box. The only thing you have to do is to extract it and put it inside the apps folder in your ownCloud install directory – and yeah, activate it of course.
Download the latest alpha release and give it a try.

The ownCloud mail app is a huge step forward, and in our point of view – it’s the app that makes ownCloud the complete solution as a cloud service. Now you can’t just store your files, contacts, calendar, notes and more – now you also have a mail client – everything in one place! But, we need your help to speed up the development. So if you are eager to get some work done for ownCloud, the mail app is a good thing to start with. Or maybe you are a user that have suggestions on enhancements? Great!
